Walking Therapy

I worked for many years in primary and secondary school in the UK. Allocating  a counselling room to the service was always a low priority on the school agenda. I was once allocated a room in the boiler house of the school ir al sitio web. Often the counselling rooms would have no windows. It was during this period I began to notice that the young people I worked with found the room too small and stuffy. Yet I was aware that the school had playing fields and a small park. Having taken all the factors into consideration with the school I began to see these young people outside.

Research has shown that exercise and being outdoors helps with : anxiety, stress, anger, depression etc

In my experience the young people I see outdoors open up more quickly and feel less threaten by the counselling process.

I now see clients in St Annes Park,  and Dollymount Strand
